Preparation and Characterization of Co-crystal

A co-crystal might be the expected outcome of a co crystallization experiment in which the final crystal contains at least two distinct species connected by intermolecular forces. Pharmaceutical co-crystals draw closer the fields of crystal engineering and pharmaceutical sciences. A pharmaceutical co-crystal is a single crystalline solid that incorporates two neutral molecules, one being an API and other a co-crystal former The basic physiochemical properties of co-crystal can usually be characterized by : A. Fourier transport Infrared spectroscopy [FTIR] ; B. Differential scanning calorimetry [DSC] ; C. X-ray diffraction [XRD].
