Preparation for Academic Research and Theses

This textbook is divided into seven chapters in line with the theme and essence of both the undergraduate and postgraduate study, and the opportunity of preparing an academic thesis for examination for a degree programme. Each chapter is designed to reflect on the objectives of the study and the study questions, the arguments and presentation of methods and tools, concepts, principles, theory and its application with a general flow from the initial impression to drawing of results, findings, summations and linkage to the next chapter. The subheadings address those concepts, principles, flow of ideas and the essence of the chapter, in a logical order. The chapters are divided into 'lessons' for the lecturer and candidates to deliberate and execute in their endeavour to prepare the academic thesis. Provided is Ebstats 2018 Software (Microsoft Excel Platform) for use in the work.

Dr. Yusuf Ebrahim is a lecturer in the School of the Built Environment, University of Nairobi. His area of specialization is architectural design, with a bias towards environmental design, urban climate change and software development. He is a registered architect with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS).
