Preservice Teachers Want More, More, More Supervision
Details
The position of a university supervisor is a very
important one. There is a heavy reliance on the
university supervisor to act as the communication
and instructional link between the university and
educational field sites. It is important to
consider which practices of the university
supervisors are the most beneficial for the
development of the preservice teacher
candidates.
This research study was conducted in order to better
understand the nature of the various roles,
responsibilities, and practices of middle childhood
university supervisors in the state of Ohio. This
study will add to the small pool of educational
research focused on supervision of middle childhood
preservice teacher candidates. This study will
inform teacher educators, researchers, state
officials, and financial stakeholders as to the
nature of the middle childhood university
supervisors services in providing appropriate
support, feedback, and instruction that is
applicable for the middle childhood preservice
teacher candidates. A key finding of the study
indicated that preservice teachers want more, more,
more supervision.
