Prevalence and factors associated with overweight and obesity

The existence of studies that affirm obesity as an epidemic, as well as the fact that excess weight in childhood and adolescence tends to persist into adulthood, leading to an increased likelihood of developing diseases. Added to this, the fact that there is no known research on adolescents in Sergipe to verify the association between living conditions, health risk behaviours and overweight/obesity, which takes into account representative samples for the whole state, based on the characteristics of its geographical territories, serves to justify this study, especially given the possibility of finding different results from other states and regions.

The author has a degree and specialisation in Physical Education from Tiradentes University and a Master's degree in Physical Education from the Federal University of Sergipe. He has experience in Physical Education, with an emphasis on Sports Training, working mainly on the following subjects: physical conditioning, health, sport, style and quality of life.
