The development of antibiotic resistance in bacteria following introduction of antimicrobial agents has emerged as an important medical problem everywhere in the world including Bangladesh. At present, ESBLs has been increasing as a serious nosocomial and community pathogen having the property multidrug resistance. It is a great challenge for clinician to treat the patients infected by these bacteria. So, the present study was undertaken to detect the prevalence of these bacteria by different methods. The enzymes are predominantly plasmid mediated and are derived from broad spectrum beta lactamase TEM or SHV by a limited number of mutations. Very recently CTX-M genes are the most common beta-lactamases throughout the world. Another alarm is ESBLs are now also found among 3GCs sensitive drugs. This study is helpful for the physician, surgeon, health personal, infected person who are treated with various drug but not response.

Dr Taslima Yasmin was born in Mymensingh district in Bangladesh. She completed MBBS, M.Phil, D-USG in Bangladesh. Her field of study is Microbiology. She worked at TMSS Medical College as Assistant Prof. Now she worked at North Bengal Medical College, Sirajganj, as Associate Prof. She had articles published from national and international journal.
