Pregnancy is one of the happiest days of women's life and they focus on the joy that their new baby will bring. The majority of pregnant women put off thinking about the birth with minimal pain and intervention which is over in the shortest possible time. However, even if your birth goes well you can still sustain injuries which can have a life altering affect. The study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of an information booklet on knowledge among staff nurses regarding the prevention and management of perineal tear during normal delivery. An evaluative approach with one group Pre test Post test design was used for the study. 40 samples were selected using simple random sampling method. The present study was conducted in Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable hospital Mangalore. The collected data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. A significant difference between Pre test and Post test knowledge was found (t=23.09, p0.05). The study findings showed that the information booklet was effective in improving knowledge of staff nurses. The literature provided in the book is beneficial for the primigravida mothers as well as to all the health professionals.
