Price Index for Livestock Products in Cameroon

Agriculture (understood here as agrosilvopastoral activities in their entirety) has always represented a major component in the structural transformation of the Cameroonian economy. In the National Development Strategy (NDS) 2020-2030, the development of agricultural productivity and production is one of the key pillars of Cameroon's development strategy for the coming decade. Indeed, the development of agricultural productivity and production is expected to have a positive impact on the growth of agro-industries, contribute to improved food security, and generate additional income and jobs in the economy. Having the tools to monitor the evolution of activity in this sector is therefore a key objective. The Producer Price Index for Agricultural Products (IPPAP), livestock section, responds to such a concern. This document is a practical guide to implementing the IPPAP for the livestock sector. It is divided into six (06) sections.

The author is a Data Scientist (trained at the Toulouse School of Economics) and also a Project Evaluation Analyst. He worked for six (years) at the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT). Since 2018, he has been working at Cameroon's Institut National de la Statistique (INS).
