Prison Masculinities
Details
This edited book explores prison masculinities, drawing from a wide range of international researchers to highlight how masculinities may divert from the 'hypermasculine' or macho typology typically found in the prison masculinities literature.
Autorentext
Tess Bartlett is an early career researcher whose work lies at the nexus of masculinities, identity, and fathering, and how these are expressed in the prison environment and in carceral spaces. She is a senior report writer in the Waitangi Tribunal Unit at the Ministry of Justice, Wellington New Zealand. Previously, Tess worked as a research fellow in the Gender and Family Violence Prevention Centre and in various teaching and research roles in Criminology at Monash University, Melbourne. She has a forthcoming monograph entitled Fathers in prison: Negotiating masculinities, identity and space (Routledge) and is a book series editor for the Emerald Advances in Masculinities series, along with co-editors Professor Steven Roberts and Professor Rosemary Ricciardelli.
Rosemary Ricciardelli is a Professor in the School of Maritime Studies and Research Chair in Safety, Security, and Wellness, at Memorial University of Newfoundland's Fisheries and Marine Institute. Elected to the Royal Society of Canada, her research centres on evolving understandings of gender, vulnerabilities, risk, and experiences and issues within different facets of the criminal justice system and among seafarers.
