The history of United Nations peacekeeping is largely one of failure. MALCOLM HUGH PATTERSON is an Australian lawyer who teaches International Law and International Relations. Since being awarded his PhD from the University of Cambridge, he has taught at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, published in the Journal of Conflict and Security Law and contributed a chapter to The Global Arms Trade. He is presently co-editing a collection of American essays to be published in the forthcoming book Contractors and War.
