Problem and prospect of community policing in Bangladesh

"Police are the public and public are the police". Community policing is the milestone in the history policing system in Bangladesh. Community policing is the community oriented policing which solve problem along with community as well as community supports. Community policing is the proactive forces which control and prevent crime and increase living standards of mass people. Community policing started for the welfare of community and achieve mass believes on policing. But still now community policing cannot achieve people trustfulness. However, it is trying to achieve people trustfulness and control and prevent crime. "Community Policing is a policy and a strategy aimed at achieving more effective and efficient crime control, reduced fear of crime, improved quality of life, improved police services and police legitimacy, through a proactive reliance on community resources that seeks to change crime-causing conditions. It assumes a need for greater accountability of police, greater public share in decision making and greater concern for civil rights and liberties".
