Problems of the management of the HLM market in Dakar

In Senegal, as elsewhere in Africa, markets pose serious management problems. However, they stand out as an indispensable facility in our cities. For many people, it is the most essential facility, especially since it is not created, but arises spontaneously. It is therefore an inherent feature of human settlements. Given this importance, it is in the interest of the public authorities to manage markets, that is, to organize the space of occupation, to maintain this space and to make it profitable. For all these reasons, and for anyone interested in the organization of society in the urban space, it is good to ask about the management problems posed by markets. In fact, the HLM market has insufficient market facilities, narrow access roads and traffic, poor electricity supply, exacerbated sanitation problems and abnormal occupation of the market area, even though this is regulated by law.
