Procuring Teaching and Learning Resources in Public Secondary Schools

Procuring Teaching and Learning resources in Public schools in Kenya is intended to equip schools to offer quality education.To establish this,findings revealed that schools have established procurement committees and not Teaching and Learning materials selection committees that coordinate procurement .Ratio of teaching and Learning resources is 1:3 with request for quotation dominantly used for procurement.Their is dearth of procurement information among Headteachers,Heads of departments and teachers.Challenges faced were delayed fund disbursement,limited training in procurement and school budgets,costly school equipment and lack of appropriate learning resources in the market.It is recommended that to achieve the set targets strong school management,transparency and unchecked accountability be checked to enhance efficient service delivery.
