Professional Indemnity Insurance for Translators

This study investigates the necessity of professional indemnity insurance for self-employed translators working in England and Germany. In the course of this study, an analysis is made of the cover, cost and availability of this insurance. Evaluations are made as to whether or not this insurance may only be deemed to be relevant to translators with certain specialities and qualifications; whether it is necessary when working for translation agencies; the potential problems that can arise from translation errors and omissions; litigation against translators; and the steps that translators can take to minimise their liability.
