Profile of Youth Workers in Slovenia today and tomorrow

Youth work directs young people in their development and prepares them for adult life. It is one of the most important informal ways of acquiring knowledge. In different European countries, youth work is in different stages of development and is evaluated differently. Youth worker experiences are based on working with young people and for young people. The same applies to the profession of youth worker. In my diploma thesis I presented the situation of youth work in Europe, more precisely in six selected European countries: Ireland, Germany, Estonia, Norway, Spain and Slovenia, and further investigated the situation of youth work in Slovenia.

At the time I wrote my dissertation, I was working at the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth, where I had the opportunity to learn a lot about youth work, so I decided to research how youth work has changed over the years and in which direction it should develop.
