Herbert Budzikiewicz, geboren 1933 in Wien, Studium der Chemie, 1959 Promotion im Fach Organische Chemie. 1961-65 Senior Research Associate an der Stanford Univ. (USA) mit Aufbau und Leitung der Abteilung für Massenspektrometrie betraut. 1965-1969 an der TU Braunschweig mit Habilitation 1966. 1970 Berufung zum ordentlichen Professor an das Institut für Organische Chemie der Univ. zu Köln, verblieben bis 2002 (Emeritierung). Arbeitsschwerpunkt: Massenspektrometrie und Naturstoffchemie (Untersuchung von Bakterieninhaltsstoffen). Autor bzw. Koautor mehrerer Bücher über die Anwendung der Massenspektrometrie zur Strukturanalyse organischer Verbindungen.
