Details

The heart-valve sound and the murmur consist of frequencies between 20 Hz and 600 Hz. The range of frequencies that can be heard by persons with normal hearing is from 20 Hz to 20 KHz. The use of personal music devices and earbuds can lead to various levels of industrial deafness, limiting the range of audible frequencies. Differences in hearing and experience among physicians leads to a more subjective diagnosis rather than objective diagnosis. This has led to increased use of high tech and expensive instruments, and reduction in the use of the auscultation. The aim of this project is to extract each of the heart-valve sound and the murmur sound such that the user can amplify them separately while performing auscultating, so as to assist heart auscultation. The overall design showed that it is possible to amplify heart and murmur sound disproportionately and separately.
