Here Protozoa with special reference to amphizoic amoebae have been reported from edible freshwater fishes, prawn, vegetables, mushrooms, soil and water. The findings are a preliminary effort that will provide a significant database to understand the ecology of protozoa and their relationship with their host and will be helpful in suggesting suitable preventive measures. This work has been reported for the first time from India.
