Psychotherapy as a Creative Process
Details
Psychotherapy is usually viewed as a process of
help, reparation and personal growth. Although
creativity is the real essence of psychotherapy, few
works have approached psychotherapy from its
creative aspect. This book investigates the creative
potentials of psychotherapy. It tries to answer
several questions: Is psychotherapy a creative
process? Can the psychotherapeutic process follow
the same stages of known models of creativity? Are
the concepts of creativity and psychotherapy
constant among different cultures? The book falls
into two parts; the first presents a theoretical
review of some psychological thoughts on creativity
and an application of those thoughts to
psychotherapy. The second is a clinical comparison
between two models of creativity from one side and a
qualitatively analyzed psychotherapeutic process
from the other side. The theory that emerged from
this work can provide practicing psychotherapists
and psychotherapy trainees a deeper understanding of
both processes; psychotherapy and creativity. This
book might also be of special interest to those
considered with personal growth, group process or
qualitative research.
