Public-Private Partnerships & Waste Management

Since the European Commission placed the waste hierarchy on the agenda, several books have been published about improvements in environmental practices regarding municipal solid waste management(MSWM) ; however, little attention has been paid in the academic literature to tourism destinations. This book analyses the influence of tourism on municipal solid waste management systems. The characteristics of tourism destinations such as seasonality, land endowment and social support set interesting challenges to the sustainability of these systems and strongly influence the choice of treatment technologies.

Italo Arbulú é doutorado em Economia do Turismo e do Ambiente pela Universidade das Ilhas Baleares (UIB). Trabalhou como chefe de investigação económica na Malaga-Webb & Asociados (Peru) e trabalha atualmente como consultor económico do Ministério da Agricultura do Peru. Trabalha também como professor na Universidad del Pacífico em Lima, Peru.
