High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Qayyumabad (Urdu: ) is a suburb of Korangi Town in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. There are several ethnic groups in Qayyumabad including Muhajirs, Punjabis, Sindhis, Kashmiris, Seraikis, Pakhtuns, Balochis, Memons, Bohras, Ismailis, etc. Over 99% of the population is Muslim. The population of Korangi Town is estimated to be nearly one million. The majority of population in this suburb is from Hazara. Mostly Swati Pathan and other casts like Tanoli, Jadoon,Awan and Saraki speaking peoples are living in here. It was previously known as Bostanabad. People came here in replacement of Azad Colony in 1965. Azad Colony is near Jinnah Hospital. The government moved Azad Colony from there because they wanted to develop Heart Surgical Ward. But Azad Colony is still there because after few years the technical board rejected that place due to railway track. The name was chosen as Qayyumabad because Mir Abdul Qayyum Khan was the parimanery secatory of President Muhammad Ayub Khan government and he was also central member of the Anjamun Ittehad Hazara in Karachi and was got this land from municipal government at that time.
