Quality Effort Counts
Details
Diligence (effort) combined with ability can explain a significant proportion of student performance at every educational level from elementary school to higher education. Because there is no relationship between diligence and ability, this model offers hope for students at all ability levels. The diligence construct which addresses this effort component has been successfully field tested in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Great Britain, Portugal, Brazil, China and Russia, with astonishing consistency in validity and reliability. This book emphasizes the need for students to assume greater responsibility for their educational outcomes. Educators have their part to play in devising a sound educational system conducive to learning, but students must take responsibility for their own learning through quality effort. The diligence construct has targeted some areas for directing such efforts. Educators and all stakeholders, particularly parents and guardians, will do well to offer their unwavering support so that students could maximize their potentials.
