Quasi-composition in English

The present study is conducted in the framework of the cognitive and discursive paradigm. The paper is an integrative study of a peripheral variety of composition, which is defined by the author as quasi-composition. For the first time it is proposed to combine the concepts of quasi- and pseudo- composition, as well as to include a separate group of discursive markers such as and stuff, or something, united under the general term "row markers" into the range of traditionally considered verbal and adjectival structures of go-and-Verb, nice-and-Adj. The author reconsiders the traditional treatment of open and closed conjunctive series, the pragmatics of which is determined by the possibility/impossibility of increasing communicative meanings. A complex functional characteristic of quasi-conjunctive constructions is proposed. The book shows that not only the meaning of separate elements of constructions is relevant, but mainly their combination, i.e. it is important to study and interpret these structures within the framework of constructions grammar. The book will be of interest to philologists, postgraduate and undergraduate students.
