David Lindsay-Abaire is adapting his own 2007 Tony Award-winning play of the same name, and John Cameron Mitchell is directing. Kidman is producing the project via her production company, Blossom Films. The film focuses on a couple, Becca (Kidman) and Howie (Eckhart), trying to cope with the death of their only child, a four-year-old who was killed in an auto accident. Meanwhile, Becca's well-meaning mother, Nat (Wiest), and off-kilter sister, Izzy (Blanchard), attempt to lift their spirits (and deal with their own problems), each in her own way. The couple's lives are further complicated when Jason (Teller), the young driver who killed their son, contacts them as he tries to seek some meaning and redemption.
