Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Rachel''s Vineyard is an organization offering weekend retreats for post-aborted women and others who have been hurt by abortion. It was founded by Theresa Karminski Burke in 1999 and currently offers 600 retreats annually, held in 47 states and 17 countries. Rachel''s Vineyard is a ministry of Priests for Life, and has a broadly Roman Catholic ethos with a Catholic mass celebrated as an integral part of the retreat, but also runs non-denominational retreats for non-Catholics. The term retreat has several related meanings, all of which have in common the notion of safety or temporarily removing oneself from one''s usual environment in order to become immersed in a particular subject matter. A retreat can be taken for reasons related to spirituality, stress, health, lifestyle, or social or ecological concerns. Increasingly, organizations hold retreats to focus board and staff members on key issues such as strategic planning, enhancing communication and collaboration, problem-solving and creative thinking.
