High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Rachid is a town in central Mauritania at the foot of the Tagant Plateau . It is located in the Tidjikja Department in the Tagant region . It is located 21.3 miles from the department capital of Tidjikja. Nearby towns and villages include Barka (38.7 nm) , Casbah des Ait Maouine (62.4 nm), Ksar el Khali (128.1 nm), and Ouadane (128.1 nm). The Tagant Plateau lies in eastern Mauritania, forming a stony part of the Sahara Desert. Some towns such as Tichit, Moudjéria and Rachid, lie at the foot of its slopes cliffs in some places while Tidjikdja lies on the Tagant itself. The plateau is also known for its desert crocodiles, but the population seems to have been last seen in 1996. The Tagant region is named for the plateau.
