The racial makeup of Denver is 72.4% White, 9.9% Black or African American, 1.1% American Indian, 3.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 10.9% from other races, and 2.4% from two or more races. 34.2% of the population is Hispanic or Latino of any race, giving Denver one of the highest populations of Hispanics or Latinos in the U.S. As of the 2005-2007 American Community Survey, White Americans made up the majority (72.4%) of Denver's population. Non-Hispanic whites made up 50.5% of the city's population according to the survey. However, non-Hispanic whites made up 51.9% of Denver's population in the 2000 Census. Therefore, there was a small decline in the percentage of whites since the 2000 Census. However, they still make up roughly half of the the city's population.
