Racism: A Psycho-Linguistic Study

How covert racism manifests itself in everyday language.The use of racist language profoundly affects the social climate by reinforcing harmful stereotypes, legitimizing discrimination and creating an environment in which inequality and exclusion thrive. This type of language perpetuates the notion that certain groups are inferior on the basis of race, ethnicity or cultural origin, normalizing these attitudes and making them part of the everyday social narrative. This normalization fosters xenophobia and prejudice, leading people to view minority groups as "other" or "outsiders," which can lead to social exclusion and hostility.Racist language also fuels bigotry by ingraining prejudiced beliefs into social interactions, making it difficult for people to see members of marginalized groups as complex individuals. Over time, exposure to this type of language can cause people to internalize these biases, leading to subconscious prejudices that manifest themselves as.
