High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Racovitziella is a genus of fungi in the class Dothideomycetes. The relationship of this taxon to other taxa within the class is unknown (incertae sedis). A monotypic genus, it contains the single species Racovitziella endostromatica. Dothideomycetes is the largest and most diverse class of ascomycete fungi. It comprises 11 orders 90 families, 1300 genera and over 19,000 known species. Traditionally, most of its members were included in the loculoascomycetes, which is not part of the currently accepted classification , and included members of both the Dothideomycetes and Eurotiomycetes. This indicates that several traditional morphological features in the class are not unique in ascomycetes and DNA sequences comparisons are important to define the class.
