Radio 1''s Live Lounge is a collection of live tracks played on Jo Whiley''s Radio 1 show. It consists of both covers and the bands'' own songs. Originally, it was scheduled for release in May 2006, but later changed to be released on the 16 October 2006. BBC Radio 1 is a British national radio station operated by the BBC which also broadcasts internationally, specialising in current popular music and chart hits throughout the day. Radio 1 provides alternative genres after 7:00pm including electronic dance, hip hop, rock or interviews. It is aimed primarily at the 15 29 age group, although the average age of the audience is 33. Radio 1 was launched at 7:00am on 30 September 1967 as a direct response to the popularity of offshore pirate radio stations such as Radio Caroline, which had been outlawed by Act of Parliament.
