Recent Achievements of Biotechnology

By employing developments in other disciplines, including engineering, physics, chemistry, and mathematics/information technology, biotechnology, as we know it today, is the ideal amalgam of "biology" and its applications. Recent innovations and developments in fields like genetic engineering, molecular biology and OMICS, synthetic biology, and nanotechnology further open the door to the achievement of various selection criteria and the creation of "tailor-made" microbe-metabolites that can be successfully used for various applications. Beyond academic studies of microorganisms, plants, and animals, biotechnology is now used in a variety of "day-to-day" industries, including the petroleum sector, medicines, cosmetics, green nanotechnology, and environmental applications, to name a few.

Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma completed his M.Sc. in 1996 at C.C.S. University, Meerut with First division and thereafter completed PhD in 2002 from the same university. He is a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London (FLS). He has a teaching experience of 24 years. More than a dozen research papers are published in a national and international journal.
