Recent Advances In Obturation

Obturation has been the blind man's buff in endodontic therapy. The quest to achieve the perfect obturation, tooth after tooth is a constant challenge. Different materials and numerous techniques have been proposed and experimented with to achieve ideal obturation. There is vast advancement in the obturation techniques. Till very recent, all the techniques were concentrating on thermoplasticised techniques, which shared final shrinkage on cooling. Recently alternatives to gutta percha, resilon and cold flowable gutta percha are evolved which are yet to be studied. These may give good results in obturation and let as hope for a new bright era of obturation.
