Recent Advances in Obturation Techniques

Conventional obturation techniques available for root canal treatment have two basic obturation procedures lateral condensation and warm vertical obturation techniques depending on canal anatomy and unique objectives of treatment. However conventional obturation techniques have passed the test of time and new techniques are required to fulfill the drawbacks including risk of vertical root fracture because of compaction forces,presence of voids, less ability to seal intracanal defects and lateral canals,time consuming,less homogeneous mass. The speciality of endodontics has evolved & changed over the years with efforts made towards invention of newer obturating materials. Starting from the use of gold and other metals to the latest gutta-percha various materials, techniques and devices have attempted to achieve the perfect root canal filling. This book is a humble attempt to exhaustively, review and present the recent obturation techniques available, so as to fulfill the requisite of the perfect obturation.
