Recent Trends in Export Led Growth in India

The trend towards a market economy in almost all the countries of the world has increased the role of exports in developmental efforts. Thus, India has to shift over to the export-led-growth model rather than the age-old self-sufficiency model. The process of opening up of the Indian economy has given birth to a host of new challenges and opportunities. The spirit of the liberalization process entails a conscious effort on the part of the policymakers to optimize on these opportunities-challenges trade-offs. Therefore, an in-depth re-investigation has been made to know the practical realities of whether the export performance can bring in the inclusive economic development of India.
