These cannot detect brucellosis caused by rough strains like B. canis and B. ovis and may culminate in possible false negativity due to serological cross-reactivity. Further, biohazard risk associated with antigen production has prompted the Further, biohazard risk associated with antigen production has prompted the development of an alternative test for the simultaneous detection of both animal and human brucellosis.
