Recruitment strategies to fill-in a future lack of skilled labour

"Future lack of skilled labour projected. The latest figures show: soon is Germany missing millions in labour market. Immigration itself will not resolve all the problems associated with demographic change" (ZEIT Magazine, 2014). Since skilled labour has always been the foundation for the economic success of every country, recruitment is in no way an invention of the 20th century. They have been common practices in the past whenever a job was needed to be filled: from building the pyramids to defending the Roman Empire. However what happens if a country 'runs out' of employees? Germany's strong economy is facing difficult times: the former prime example of skilled and educated workers, who contributed to Germany's economic stability, is now struggling. German companies are confused and worried: is the demographical change leading to a lack of skilled labour in the near future? This dissertation will look this highly discussed topic and firstly analyses the German labour market and its outlook. Secondly, it questions from the perspective of the medium-sized IT company Legodo: which strategies can be recommended to fill-in a future lack of skilled labour in Germany?
