Details

Ahsan Ullah provides an insightful analysis of migration and displacement in the Middle East and North Africa. He examines the intricate relationship of these phenomena with human rights, safety concerns and issues of identity crisis and identity formation.

"Refugee movements are among the world's most pressing issues, yet our understanding of them remains limited. This study provides new and valuable insights into the complex dynamics of refugees in one of the regions most influenced by them the Middle East and North Africa. Its examination of the ongoing Arab uprising is especially valuable." - Graeme Hugo, ARC Australian Professorial Fellow, Professor of Geography and Director of the Australian Population and Migration Research Centre, University of Adelaide, Australia

"This volume offers a fresh and new understanding of the dynamics of refugees within the MENA region and beyond. The key question that Dr. Ullah examines is how the rights, safety and identity issues of refugees are connected to the larger migratory issues and processes. Without doubt, this book provides deeper insight into the debates around migration and refugee issues. The perspectives contribute to a better understanding of the migration and refugees challenges of today." - Md. Shahidul Haque, Foreign Secretary, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (formerly Regional Representative of the International Organization for Migration, Middle East, and South Asia)
