Refurbishment and renewal of railway tunnels

Over time, certain repair measures must be carried out on every structure. Many tunnels in Central Europe, and especially in Germany, are over 100 years old and are no longer fit for purpose. They no longer comply with current rules and regulations and must be adapted to meet current safety standards. There is therefore a great need for renovation here. These existing tunnels were built using different construction methods, such as the English, Austrian or German tunnel construction methods. These are decisive factors in choosing the appropriate renovation measures. The construction measures and methods used for tunnel refurbishment and renewal must be continuously adapted to the latest state of the art. In addition, companies must comply with both national regulations and the legal requirements of central authorities, such as the European Union.
