Regeneration and Genetic Transformation on Stevia rebaudiana

Stevia is a low caloric natural source and can be used instead of alternative to artificially sugar.Stevia is helpful for hypoglycemia and diabetes because it nourishes pancreas and thereby helps to restore its normal function (Soejarto et al., 1983 and Kanokporn et al., 2006). Oviedo (1971) reported that 35.2% fall in normal blood sugar levels 6-8 hours following the ingestion of stevia leaf extract (Miyazaki et al., 1978). Also, Stevia leaves extract can be used as anti fungal and bacteria agents. There fore , it lowered incidence of cold and flue. Mild stevia leaf tea offers excellent relief for an upset stomach.
