Regenerative Braking System
Details
Regenerative Braking System (RBS) is an efficient system to reduce vehicle emission and fuel consumption. RBS is a system which converts mechanical energy to electrical energy during braking action. It will become an important system for further vehicle such as hybrid and electric car. The study is started with literature survey about the Regenerative Braking System (RBS). The basic design and components used in the regenerative braking for current vehicles is also reviewed. Through the study, a RBS model is designed and fabricated. The working mechanism was developed to understand how the RBS could convert mechanical energy to electrical energy. In this mechanism the energy lost due to braking is extracted and the energy is stored in the battery.it is also observed that as the speed of vehicle increased the voltage (energy) produced is also increased, which in turn decrees fuel consumption and increase overall efficiency.
