Regional Integration Schemes in Africa
Details
African leaders gathered in Sirte, Libya, in 2001 came up with the idea of establishing the African Union (AU). The institutions designed within the AU parallel those of the institutions within the European Union (EU), which is unquestionably the world s most successful regional integration project. The research aims at examining benefits AU would get and the limits it would confront in emulating a regional integration model similar to that of the EU, an institution established in and has been functioning in an utterly different situation.
