Remission and Derogation in the work of Jac Leirner

The 20th century stands out for its practices and procedures that set up divergences in artistic discourse. The history of the avant-garde allows us to recognize its questionings and propositions in Dadaism, Surrealism, Constructivism, Pop Art and Minimalism. These movements, known for their ruptures, experimentation and transgressions, reverberate in contemporary times. This book looks at the work of Jac Leirner (São Paulo, 1961), an artist whose works point to possible dialogues with the procedures, gestures and questions of the avant-garde movements, especially those of the 50s and 60s.

She has a master's degree in Theory and History of Visual Arts from the Postgraduate Program in Visual Arts at CEART, Udesc, Florianópolis, Brazil. He is currently working in the field of education and art at MART (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Rovereto and Trento).
