Renal Artery beyond CT And MRI

Near renal hilum, renal artery divides into anterior and posterior divisions then into segmental arteries. The most serious accident in renal surgery is haemorrhage. It is important to study branches of renal artery to give more information to surgeon. Though many workers have tried to study abnormal renal vascular pattern, it was limited by number of factors. Literature also lacks comparison of right and left renal arteries. Most of the studies are performed in western countries, there is lack of literature with respect to Indian population. Aim of study was to know branching pattern of renal artery from its origin to hilum of kidney by dissection method on cadavers.
