Renovation of Baouchrieh Industrial City

This book focuses on a very old industrial zone, as unique example, like no other, Baouchrieh Industrial Zone, located in Greater Beirut, Metn District. The study departs starting with the workhands, the current situation of BIC, as well as its context area in order to raise landscape and urban design issues. And then establish the study objective and carry out a set of suitable study frameworks and outlines. In addition, it is also essential to understand the importance of the concept "Breaking Down The Wall" and ending the blockade built around BIC for years, depriving it from basic needs and services to withstand the economical fluctuations. Governmental and municipal efforts are insufficient to solve the existing and ongoing issues. The study will focus on how to combine the best aspects of academic theories and reveal new ones derived case specific. Afterwards summarizing recommendations for the revival of Baouchrieh Industrial City.

Jumana Hassouna is an Interior architect from Beirut Lebanon. She acquired her Masters is Interior architecture and Acquired her 2nd masters in Landscaping and Environmental Architecture. Her Projects "Beirut Multi Faith Forum and Cemetery" and "Hamra Urban Plaza" were highly praised and earned her 3rd and 1st prize in the Lebanese University.
