Reproductive impacts of sesame leaves lignans in adult males SD rats
Details
Concern has been expressed over the past decades about the potential deleterious effect of both syn- thetic and natural estrogenic endocrine disruptor in the environment on the male reproductive tract including sperm quality in wildlife species and humans alike. Moreover, there is a paucity of knowledge on the mechanisms of action of sesame and other phytoestrogens in male reproductive tracts. However, most works on phytoestrogens have focused on iso- flavones and lignans from soy-based andflaxseed meals Sesame plant is an annual herbaceous oil seed plant known to man since the dawn of civilization with all its parts usefully consumed as staple food and has lots of benefits in folk's medicine in Africa and Asia for thousands of years now. This book gives insight into the beneficial impacts such as sperm enhancing and improving performance qualities inherent in sesame leaves phytoestrogenic-lignans consumption on the male reproductive organs. In addition, the mechanisms responsible for the reproductive enhancing impacts of sesame leaves consumption would be explored. This book is useful to health professionals, scientists, researchers and general public.
