The Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Standing Committee was formed under the Singapore Children''s Society in Singapore in 1989, and was renamed as Research and Advocacy Standing Committee (RASC) in 2003. The committee comprises pediatricians, forensic pathologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, sociologists, social workers, and lawyers. It also has representatives from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Home Affairs, and professional bodies like the Singapore Paediatric Society. The RASC has been actively involved in training of professionals working with alleged child abuse cases, educating and counselling caregivers on effective child upbringing methods, research as well as public education through talks in schools, seminars, exhibitions and production of literature.
