The windblown sand erosion wear and damage behaviors of the rail materials in windblown sand environment were investigated using a windblown sand erosion wear test machine, and the erosion wear and damage mechanisms of the rail in windblown sand environment were clarified. The rolling wear and damage behaviors of the rail in windblown sand environment were studied using a wheel-rail rolling wear and contact fatigue testing machine equipped with the device of the windblown sand environment simulation, and the rolling wear and damage mechanisms of the rail in windblown sand environment were also revealed. The interaction mechanism between sand particles and wheel-rail interface in windblown sand environment was clarified. Finally, the erosion wear resistance, erosion damage resistance, rolling wear resistance and rolling contact fatigue resistance of the rail materials with different hardness were compared and analyzed.
