Reshaping Natures
Details
A collection of papers from Eastern and Western countries highlighting the importance of local communities as key actors of environmental change in the near future. Cases were based on recent field work conducted in Brazil, Nigeria, Thailand, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Mexico, and Lesotho by native senior scholars. The papers update recent discussions on petroleum and society; the understanding of lead contamination from a local community s viewpoint; the role of media to communicate environmental disasters; the valorization of local knowledge to strengthen resilience to climatic variability; the social conflicts for water among Mexican communities; the risks for food supply resulting from the recent expansion of agro fuels.
