Resilience Levels And Severity Of P.T.S.D In Refugees From D.R.C
Details
Resilience refers to a dynamic process characterized by positive development despite significant adversity. Traditionally, we have been looking at pathology and its extent whilst ignoring resilient factors. we need to appreciate that refugees experience a lot of trauma from life threatening events, but they can still find themselves in other countries. One needs to ask self why others continue to function well, others at a lower level and others break down completely after experiencing the same trauma? Important to note are the psychological factors like attitude towards self, perception of the events, previous learning experiences and social support that remain as pillars to the refugees. This book is path breaking since it give a baseline that these refugees are still functioning at a certain psychological level despite severity of the PTSD symptoms.
