Resources, External Stakeholders, Expansion Strategies and Performance
Details
Efforts by various scholars to explain causes and drivers of inter and intra firm performance differences return varying accounts. Resources, external stakeholders, and expansion strategies have been cited as causes of variation in firm performance and thus fronted as performance drivers. This study seeks to empirically validate the existence the existence, nature and strength of the relationship between organisational resources, external stakeholders, expansion strategies and firm performance. Against a background of poor global performance by financial institutions due to the 2007/2008 financial crisis, the Eurozone crisis and the weak shilling, Kenyan banks sustained strong balance sheets and high profits. There were 37 bank-failures between 1986 and 1998 in Kenya while only two banks went into receivership between 1998 and 2015 when data for this study was collected and analysed. The book provides useful insights to managers of commercial banks and other organisations that will appraise informed decision making aimed at focusing strategic efforts towards key performance drivers in order to improve performance. The findings should inform policy, practice and academia.
