Its name is an acronym standing for Respect, Equality, Socialism, Peace, Environmentalism, Community, and Trade Unionism. It is often referred to simply as Respect or as the Respect Party. Respect was created in January 2004, using the issue of the war in Iraq to mobilise its vote.
